Not every electrical job requires major works.
Sometimes you may just need an additional socket, a light fitting changed or an
electrical accessory replaced because it has become outdated, worn or unreliable.
Alan Davies Electrical is happy to carry out your smaller electrical jobs
as well as larger installations. If you have a job that needs doing, however
small it may seem, please feel free to get in touch. I can discuss what is
required and advise you on the most suitable way of completing the work.
Over time, electrical accessories can become worn, damaged or simply no longer suitable for the way you use your home. A small job can often make a significant difference to convenience, safety and the appearance of a room.
Examples of smaller electrical work I can undertake include:
* Installing an additional socket where you need one.
* Replacing a damaged, loose or worn socket outlet.
* Changing an ceiling light fitting for a newer design.
* Replacing a worn or faulty ceiling pull-cord switch.
* Replacing light switches or other electrical accessories.
* Installing or replacing an outside socket or light.
* Reconnecting a new electric cooker or oven .
* Replacing an electric shower unit.
* Carrying out minor alterations to wiring.
* Replacing an extractor fan.
An additional socket can be a relatively small job, but can make everyday
life considerably easier.
Whether you need another socket in a bedroom, living
room, kitchen or home office, I can look at the existing installation and
determine the most practical method of providing it.
Where appropriate, surface-mounted PVC trunking or other suitable methods
can sometimes provide a neat alternative to chasing walls and disturbing
decoration.
The best approach will depend on the existing wiring, the position
of the new socket and the construction of the property.
Replacing an old light fitting or worn switch is another common small
electrical job.
You may have decorated a room and want to replace an outdated ceiling light,
or perhaps an existing pull-cord switch has become worn after years of use.
Replacing the accessory can often be a straightforward job, while also
providing an opportunity to check that the existing wiring and connections are
in suitable condition.
I can also replace many types of standard light switches, sockets and other
electrical accessories.
Replacing an electric cooker or oven does not necessarily mean that major
electrical work is required. If the property already has a suitable existing
supply, I can assess the installation and reconnect the new appliance where the
existing circuit and connection arrangement are appropriate.
For safety it is important that the electrical supply is suitable for the appliance. I will check the existing arrangement to ensure the new appliance can be connected.
If the supply is inadequate I can provide a competitive
quote for upgrading so your appliance can be connected.
Although a job may be small, electrical work still needs to be carried out
safely and correctly.
An apparently simple replacement can sometimes reveal an underlying problem
such as a loose connection, damaged cable, unsuitable accessory or other issue
with the existing installation.
If I find something that requires attention, I
will explain the problem and discuss the options with you before proceeding
with additional work.
My aim is always to complete the work efficiently while maintaining the same
standard of care whether I am installing a single socket or undertaking a larger electrical project.
It can sometimes be difficult to find an electrician
willing to take on a small job. You may only need one socket replaced or a
light fitting changed, but it is still important to have the work carried out
properly.
If you have a small electrical job in your home or property around the Merthyr Tydfil area, please get in touch. I am happy to
discuss what you need and provide an estimate for the work where appropriate.
No job is too small to deserve a professional approach.
